Headteacher’s Welcome

Headteacher's Welcome

I am delighted to serve our community as Headteacher of The Laurels Primary School and hope these snapshots provide you with an insight into our happy and vibrant school and the exciting journey we are on. The Laurels is an excellent school, where children are happy, confident learners, and I am so proud of our children and staff.  We work closely with our parents so that together we can give every child the greatest opportunity to develop and learn. We are proud to have strong links with Durrington High School, who are also part of Durrington Multi-Academy Trust (DMAT).  Being part of DMAT means our children have priority admission to Durrington High School.  The Laurels is well supported by our governors and through inspiring and inclusive teaching and learning experiences, we work in partnership to create a school where every individual feels safe, valued and successful.

Our creative approach to learning makes learning fun and encourages children to do their best. We aspire to academic excellence for all and achieved well above the national average at the end of Year 6 in 2019. 81% of our children achieved the expected standard in reading, writing and maths compared to 65% nationally. Our joint venture over the next seven years will be to help your child develop the values, skills and knowledge they need for an exciting and ambitious future.

We are uncompromising in our aspirations for every child during their time at The Laurels Primary and our passionate team of teaching and support staff place great emphasis on ensuring your child’s needs are met and their abilities are understood. It is our mission to deliver the highest possible standards across all areas of school life. We are committed to ensuring the children leave prepared for their future success at secondary school and beyond. If you are thinking of joining us, I would be delighted to show you our school and what it can offer.
