The internet is fun – but you need to stay safe!

You might use the internet to play games, watch videos, learn new things or talk to friends. That’s great but just like in real life, you need to make safe choices.

Important Things to Remember

🔒 Keep Personal Information Private

  • Don’t share your full name, address, school or passwords
  • Keep your accounts safe

💬 Be Kind and Respectful

  • Treat people kindly online
  • Don’t send mean messages
  • Tell an adult if someone is being unkind

🚫 Be Careful Who You Talk To

  • Only chat with people you know in real life
  • People online might not be who they say they are

📸 Sharing Photos and Videos

Think carefully before sharing anything:

  • Only share pictures if a trusted adult says it’s okay
  • Never send photos to someone you don’t know
  • Don’t send or ask for pictures that make you feel worried or uncomfortable
  • Remember: once something is shared, it can be very hard to take back

Apps and Games

Some apps are not made for primary school children, even if lots of people use them:

  • WhatsApp
  • TikTok
  • Instagram
  • Snapchat

👉 These are usually for 13+. The rules are there to help keep you safe.

🎮 Games You Might Play

  • Roblox
  • Fortnite
  • Minecraft

These can include chatting with others, so:

  • Don’t talk to strangers
  • Use safety settings
  • Tell an adult if something feels wrong

If Something Goes Wrong

🛑 STOP

  • Close the app or turn off the screen

📸 SAVE

  • Take a screenshot if you can

📢 TELL

  • Tell a trusted adult straight away

Who Can Help You?

  • A parent or carer
  • A teacher or trusted adult in school

Remember

  • You will never be in trouble for asking for help
  • Your safety is the most important thing
  • If something doesn’t feel right — tell someone
