Admissions
The Laurels Primary School is an academy within the Durrington Multi Academy Trust and is its own admissions authority. Admissions are coordinated in partnership with West Sussex County Council.
Start of Year Admissions – Reception 2026/2027
The Pupil Admission Number (PAN) is 30 children per year group.
Children may start school in the academic year in which they turn five.
Parents who wish to defer admission until the term in which their child reaches their fifth birthday should notify the Local Authority in writing so that a place can be reserved.
Open morning/ evening events are arranged for the Autumn Term and are advertised on our website. If you are unable to find a convenient date please contact the school office.
Applications for entry into Reception for September 2026 must be made through West Sussex County Council. Parents may express a preference for at least three state-funded schools, ranked in order. Offers of places are made directly by the Local Authority.
Further information and the application form are available here: West Sussex Admissions
Please read our admissions policy below to understand our over subscription criteria.
In-Year Admissions
An in-year admission is a request for a place after the start of the academic year, or for a year group other than Reception. The school manages its own in-year admissions in partnership with West Sussex County Council and maintains a waiting list.
Admissions are made according to the oversubscription criteria, so a child’s position on the waiting list does not guarantee a place. The school participates fully in Fair Access Protocols.
Where space is available, children may join any year group. Governors monitor pupil numbers to maintain the agreed class size of 30 children.
We are an inclusive school, committed to supporting all pupils, particularly those with barriers to learning. If you have specific concerns about your child’s needs, please speak to the Headteacher.
Parents are warmly invited to arrange a visit to see the facilities, observe children at work, and have questions answered.
Children at The Laurels are given priority admission to Durrington High School when they leave in Year 6.
To apply for an in-year place, please contact the school office for an application form and arrange a visit.
