Parents with children due to start school for the first time will no longer receive a letter from the County Council, so it’s important to make a note of the dates and start thinking about your preferences now.
Admissions to The Laurels Primary School are decided by the Local Authority on behalf of the Headteacher. All parents apply to the Admissions Team who will determine the result of the application.

Children are admitted as follows:
Children are able to start school in the academic year in which they become five.
Parents who wish to defer their child’s admission until the term in which they have have their fifth birthday should indicate their preference in writing to the Local Authority, in order that a place is reserved.
Parents are very welcome to look around the school. Please contact the school for an appointment with the Headteacher.
Meetings are arranged for parents and children starting school in the term before they are admitted.
We organise visits to school in the term before starting so that your child can meet his/her teacher before he/she joins us.
Where space is available, we welcome children into any year group. However, the Governors continue to monitor pupil numbers in each year group aiming to maintain the current pupil numbers for each class. The agreed class size is 30 children.
We aim to be an inclusive school supporting all pupils, especially those who have barriers to learning. If you have specific concerns about your child’s needs, please speak to the Headteacher. Parents considering The Laurels for their child are warmly invited to make a preliminary visit, by arrangement, to see the facilities and the children at work, and to have any questions answered.
Children at The Laurels get priority admission to Durrington High School when they leave in Year 6.
