We aim for high standards in all aspects of school life including our uniform.
It is smart and encourages pupils to take pride in their presentation. It also gives our pupils a sense of belonging to our school family. We ask all parents/carers to support school staff by encouraging the children to wear appropriate school uniform every day.
Our School Uniform Policy is based on the notion that our school uniform:
- Provides a sense of pride in the school
- Unites the school – once the school uniform is on, we follow our school values
- Provides a feeling of community and belonging
- Is practical and smart
- Identifies the children with their school
- Ensures children feel equal to their peers, in terms of appearance and financial circumstances
- Identifies the focus of school is as a learning environment
Footwear (sturdy, sensible, black school shoes) is also part of our school uniform. Trainers, whether black or otherwise, are unacceptable except for use in P.E. and other sporting activities. Heels and boots are discouraged for Health and Safety purposes.
It is also important to ensure the children are equipped for each school day with their reading book/reading diary and the correct kit (green t-shirt) for P.E. lessons. If the children forget to bring their own, they may be required to wear spare uniform provided by the school so they don’t miss out on learning new skills.
The school will always be considerate and discrete in trying to establish why a pupil is not wearing the correct uniform. Pupils will not be made to feel uncomfortable, nor discriminated against. In line with our culture of honest conversation with parents and carers, we encourage discussion with the school at the earliest opportunity if there are any difficulties.
